Newton Trowbridge is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been practicing since 2019. He holds a Master’s in Counseling Arts from Adler Graduate School (Minnesota), a Master’s in Religious Studies with a minor in Counseling from Regent College (Vancouver, BC), a BA in Elementary Education from Western New Mexico University, and a BA in History from Dordt College (Iowa). He speaks Spanish and has provided therapy in Spanish.
Since graduate school, Newton has pursued specialized training in a wide range of therapeutic approaches. His expertise includes trauma treatments such as EMDR, nutritional approaches for mental health, family therapy, and ADHD treatment. He has also trained extensively in Adlerian therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In addition, he is PACT Level I certified. PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) is a specialized model of couples therapy grounded in social justice theory, neuroscience, attachment theory, and an integration of diverse psycho-therapeutic traditions.
Newton believes in the creative power of people to use courage as a catalyst for change—moving toward their values and building a healthier future. He has extensive experience treating mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), ADHD, personality disorders, family issues, marital difficulties, and schizophrenia. He works with clients of all ages and has supported many individuals and families navigating autism and other forms of neuro-divergence. Newton emphasizes the power of human connection over rigid technique, helping clients gain clarity around their emotional processes and empowering them to create lasting change.
Before becoming a counselor, Newton worked in a variety of fields: he taught middle school, taught Hebrew and Greek, served as a pastor, worked in the oil industry, and held a career in automotive service. These diverse experiences give him a broad perspective and fuel his deep empathy for those facing life’s struggles. Counseling is a natural fit for him, combining his passion for helping others, his curiosity, and his commitment to lifelong learning.
Outside the office, Newton is the father of six children, two of whom are still at home. He enjoys reading, playing guitar, rock climbing, running, snowboarding, and experimenting with gourmet cooking.
He looks forward to meeting you and walking alongside you on your journey toward growth and healing.
